You create your reality - no really!

In spring 2024, I decided to take a leap of faith and open my Reiki practice. I've told this story several times, but now that we're approaching the one-year mark since I filed my LLC and opened my practice, I wanted to reflect on how I got here. I took my first Reiki training in the summer of 2017, and it was life-changing. It was just the first level, and it was something I can’t fully explain. It is one of those things you have to be there to understand. For years, when I talked to one of the other people in the class, we would ponder the experience. Since it was Reiki level 1, I don’t think any of us had much experience with it; I sure didn’t. I signed up for the course on a whim. At the time, I was searching for something that would give me meaning. I had a family and friends, but I was spiritually dead. In 2015, I started searching for meaning. I went on a 4-day hike in Peru on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. When I didn’t find it there, I went on a 2-week hike in 2016 through the Himalayan Mountains to the base of Mount Everest.
I was getting closer; I could feel it pulling at me. I needed the stars, needed to get as close to them as possible for me - that was 19,000 feet. But it wasn’t enough, and my personal life was in a state of turmoil. In May 2017, my life started to settle down. I finished my Master's degree that month and began searching for a higher purpose in life again. So I dove all in, back to yoga, meditation, and something called Reiki training. I was finally feeling peaceful, but as I always do, I started looking for something else. It took me another graduate degree and being fired from what, at the time, I considered my dream job in 2023, for me to decide to be bold and figure out what I was called to do. So, I filed for my LLC in March 2024 and took Reiki training, levels 1 and 2, in May. My stepsister and I decided to make vision boards for the Jupiter Cazimi, which happened on May 18th. As a Gemini rising, the planet of growth, expansion, and reward was finally entering my sign. I started making my board on May 6th and finished it on May 26th. I put all my career dreams on it.
How I wanted my studio to look, the community I wanted to build, how I wanted to live my life. I put it where I would see it every day. A full-sized poster board, covered in magazine clippings and pictures from the internet, glued on with a glue stick. For a moment, I thought things were going well. I signed a lease for a Reiki room one day a week and got a part-time job that I enjoyed. The part-time job quickly turned into more than 30 hours a week, and Reiki fell by the wayside. I finally got fed up with my job and walked out in January. I thought I failed again, I would have to close my Reiki practice and get a full-time job. I was about to throw my vision board away, but something stopped me, so I put it away where I didn’t have to see it. But magically, the opposite happened. Since I had free time and a lease until April 1, I opened my books, and clients started pouring in. I decided to give it a real go and focus on building my business full-time. I found the perfect space and signed a one-year lease that started on April 1. My birthday was on the “powerful” Pisces new moon, and I spent the entire night writing out exactly what I wanted to happen. When I opened my new location, I realized that the things I had put on my vision board almost a year earlier were coming true. The office turned into a studio. I’m getting ready to start teaching classes, and I have begun holding women's meetings. I am even taking my final Reiki Master/Teacher Holy Fire Certification the first week if May from the author of the book I put a picture of on my vision board. My life is finally aligning with what my soul has been looking for.
I don’t think you need a vision board to create the future you want, but I do believe you have to be very clear about what you want. You need to set an intention and follow through on it.
That being said, I want to create a new vision board for the upcoming year and hold a vision board workshop at my studio on May 31. It’s so much easier to create a vision board when you set aside a specific time to do it. We will do a chakra meditation, set our intentions, and I will do Reiki on each board when we’re finished. Watch for details on Facebook and my website. It’s time to reach for the stars again!
